The Charles Barker Champions for Charity was established in 1994 with the mission of raising funds to provide counseling, drug and alcohol awareness, educational scholarships and community mentorship programs to the youth of Hampton Roads.
The charity’s premier annual event is a golf outing held in October at the Bayville Golf Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This invitation-only tournament was renamed in 2002 to the Creech-Malbon Memorial Golf Outing in remembrance of Preston Creech and Lane Malbon who left this world too soon.
We have since changed the name of the charity from “Champions for Charity” to “Champions for Kids” to further acknowledge the focus of our mission of supporting programs that serve our community’s youth. The generous contributions of our sponsors throughout the years have helped us raise millions dollars for these programs and organizations.
Today, as we begin preparations for this year, our objective is to reach over three million dollars. With your support and charitable action, we’re sure to reach that goal and continue to make a difference in our kids’ futures.
